Continuing from the 1990 article above, Jim retired in 2010, and Bill stepped back in 2025 but remains a major guiding force for Will and Matt Funderburk—the youngest two of John Laney's grandsons—as they lead Murr & Laney Inc into the future.
Today, you are more likely to see the President and Vice President of Murr & Laney Inc on your roof than in the office. They have dubbed themselves “the promise maker” and “the promise keeper,” still carrying John Laney’s belief that “you do not stay in the shop (or office) on sunny days.” We take pride in our work and treat each job as if it were our own property. Now, over 60 years later, the Murr & Laney motto continues to be: “The homeowner with the leaking roof is as important to us as the large, spectacular project.”
